As part of this project, you are required to demonstrate knowledge and skills in understanding and supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities who present with behaviors that challenge. You are required to demonstrate your knowledge and skills of behaviors that challenge using the following headings:
1. Define the term ‘Intellectual Disability’ (ID) and provide at least three examples of conditions considered an Intellectual disability
2. What Intellectual, Physical, and Emotional challenges are associated with ID?
3. Identify examples of challenging and inappropriate behavior in relation to ID.
4. Describe what you understand by the term ‘Setting events’ and provide examples of what these might be in a care setting.
5. Discuss the use of an ABC/NDB chart or similar for recording observable and measurable behavior and provide a sample chart.
6. Demonstrate and outline your understanding of the following:
– Policies & Procedures in relation to supporting the Positive Behaviour Support Model
– Good practice skills when caring for service users – how we do things, established practices
7. Identify your areas of competence in promoting positive health and wellbeing when caring for service users with presenting behaviors that challenge and areas for improvement.
