- You have recently introduced some changes to team duties in order to increase an effective skill mix. A member of the team who you have had a friendly relationship with is not cooperating and has been questioning the changes with other team members. You have tried to simply tell her to follow the instructions but she reacted by walking away in a huff.

- As CNM you are under pressure on the unit due to staff shortages and skill mix. You have approached the CNM on another unit who have lower dependency residents and more experienced staff. You have requested their support with staff swap but they have refused to say they don’t want to run into the same problem.

- Due to the current situation, you are under pressure to maintain staff morale within your nursing and care teams.
You have been instructed by your manager to take a hard approach with staff and not to accept any “excuses” from them about stress or pressure. Several team members have indicated that they are considering leaving and your manager is happy to make an example of them. You want to achieve a common approach with your manager.
