The Professional Portfolio will outline the processes involved in the recruitment, induction, and ongoing support and supervision of staff within early years setting and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, government policy, and best practice guidelines. In developing this portfolio, the student will assume the role of a manager within an early year setting, and demonstrate their understanding of the following:
- The steps involved in planning for and carrying out the recruitment of new staff
- The ongoing support and supervision of personnel
- The importance of complying with the key legislation, regulation, policy, and best practice guidelines and the impact of same on the recruitment, support, and staff retention processes.

- Discussion of the relevant legislation, regulations, government policy, and best
practice guidelines that pertain to the recruitment, induction, and management of staff in early years services. - Discuss the selection and training for an interview panel.
