Assignment Overview
The final element of assessment for the HRM module involves the completion of a case study on the core areas of HRM practice that have been covered throughout the academic year. This project accounts for 50% of the total module marks.
The case study below, The Marin Hotel, contains 5 sections. Part 1 is mandatory and must be completed. However, you may then choose to complete any two of the remaining 4 sections (Parts 2-5).
There are 2 questions in each section of the case study that needs to be addressed. You are required to evaluate the situation and situate your responses within the relevant HRM literature. Your evaluation and analysis must be research-informed. Any advice given to the hotel must also be grounded in the latest research evidence, i.e. from ABS ranked journals. To that end, in lieu of providing a reference list, you are required to complete the following table which clearly illustrates the journal articles that informed your work. You can also adapt the table for other sources, i.e. textbooks. Make sure to use a variety of sources, e.g. journal articles, textbooks, CIPD material, industry reports etc.
