THIS IS MY BACKGROUND TO MY RESEARCH PROJECT JUST TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT I AM TRYING TO ACHIEVE IN THE LONG RUN

The built environment and architecture of a country show how people feel about its cultural identity. It tells us there is a link between identity and the built environment. It also explains why we need to protect this link because we want to keep our architectural heritage. For instance, the UN and the EU recently introduced these cultural charters, which can affect the sense of identity.

Therefore, we need to understand the link between identity, culture, and the built environment as it is a recent issue. Since 2000, when they started to recognize the value of cultural identity, they have been trying to address these issues. The idea of cultural identity is important because it gives people a sense of safety and belonging. The UN and the European Union want to help protect culture and heritage by placing guidelines on protected buildings so that their cultural heritage isn’t lost.

• Although the reuse of buildings and the regulatory framework in place can cause tensions in the building’s social and cultural impact, this can have an effect on society’s social needs for familiarity, to experience the physical expression of past generations, and to provide learning opportunities for future generations. An intimate understanding of a historic building’s fabric, condition, internal artifacts, and history guides any future alteration or restoration proposals to preserve its social-cultural heritage.
• The theory is that if you use the guidelines and regulations, the building will be protected and there will be an optimum social and cultural experience. Is it possible that the exterior or interior of the building is undermined in some way and society doesn’t get what it wants? Using the case study I will investigate the interior using 3 tensions between sociocultural and the regulatory framework to test whether it is possible to find an optimum point between the two.

THIS IS MY RESEARCH STATMENT

In light of the necessity to preserve and reuse historic and cultural buildings, it has resulted in the establishment of a regulatory framework that, in theory, also caters to the interests of social-cultural needs. These are the ways in which the social and cultural dimensions of a building are being protected.

The goal of the research is to find the best balance between regulatory requirements and the social and cultural identity of the building.
