The Written Assignment represents 60% of the overall course grade.

The Written Assignment Case Study should be completed at the conclusion of the course, once all sessions have been completed.

The goal of the assignment is to demonstrate how you are thinking about putting course concepts, models, tools and practices in your own context to demonstrate the course learning outcomes.

1. Select any HR topic of your choosing from the course. Topics can be any of the
following:
– A main unit topic e.g. New Joiner Experience Unit 7, or
– A subtopic(s) from a unit e.g. Induction Design, or
– A blend of topics from different units that are interrelated.

2. Explore this topic in more depth citing current thinking, research data, recent case law, recent legislation or trends. Source information/data should be referenced throughout the essay body.

3. You should include reference to the implications of Covid in your essay considering what changes (if any) may need to be made to current or future HR process, policy and/or best practice to ensure compliance to employment legislation in Ireland.

4. The final assignment should be written in an appropriately academic style, and where outside sources are used they should be cited using the Harvard Referencing System.

Guidelines on referencing are available through the Learner Management System (LMS).
The assignment should contain approximately 3,000 words (word count range 2,500 –
3,300 maximum). Final assignments submitted in excess of the max word count of
3,300 will not be marked and will receive an automatic grade of ‘Unsatisfactory’.
