The research project aims to (Module Learning Outcomes):

•  Provide learners with an opportunity to work as an individual and show initiative to complete a research project from literature review, empirical research, data collection, and analysis, conclusion, and presentation.
• Provide learners with an opportunity to focus on a specific program-related interest area, and to integrate and apply their knowledge and
• Motivate learners in their continued intellectual, personal and professional development in terms of communication, reflection, confidence-building, and self-esteem.
• Provide awareness for the need for good, clear project documentation backed up with the ability for good planning and scheduling
• Create awareness of the legal and ethical aspects of research design and development while being mindful of diversity.

As this is an NFQ Level 8 module you are expected to show autonomy through independent work. The weekly sessions are for support and guidance only, you need to continue to develop your project between sessions and ensure you bring work or questions with you to each session. In addition, criticality and judgment are key attributes of a Level 8 student, this requires you to listen to your support staff, but ultimately, you need to decide what is the best course of action for your project. The weekly sessions are supported by the principal module leader and two additional subject matter experts who will provide guidance, support, and talks from time to time during the semester.

Applied Business Research Project dissertation 

 Business research is a process of identifying business needs and determining solutions to business problems. Solutions often include process improvement, organizational change or strategic planning, and policy development. This type of analysis can be performed by an architect or a strategist. In the architect role, the focus is on investigating business problems through analyzing objectives, processes and resources, and suggesting ways by which re-design or improvements could be made. The strategist approach to business analysis focuses on strategic matters continuously in the modern, ever-changing world. This approach analyses the strategic profile of an organization and its operating environment, advising senior management on suitable policies, and the effects of policy decisions. A business research project could be undertaken to:

• investigate business systems, taking a holistic view of the situation. This may include examining elements of the organizational structures and staff development issues as well as current processes and IT systems.
• evaluate actions to improve the operation of a business Again, this may require an examination of organizational structure and staff development needs, to ensure that they are in line with any proposed redesign.
• conduct requirements analysis focusing on ensuring changes made to an organization are aligned to its strategic goals. These changes could include changes to strategies, policies, business rules, processes, and information.
