TASK 1

Provide an overview of the following and how they influenced the design of your programmes:

a. Principal themes of your chosen curriculum.

b. Child Learning Styles.

c. Principal Learning Theories.

TASK 2

Devise: (1) a Weekly Schedule, and (2) a detailed Day Schedule for an ECCE setting. You may base your schedule on the curriculum currently in use, in your setting. For this assessment, you are asked to devise and evaluate your schedules in line with the Aistear Curriculum Framework.

a. Describe the role of: (1) Parents/Guardians, and (2) Colleagues in supporting children’s learning and development.
b. Outline how you interacted with and sought feedback from both when devising your schedules.

Outline three evaluation methods that you could use to evaluate your schedules.  You are required to complete a report for your colleagues on the range of Early Childhood program models and approaches. The report must be structured using tasks 5-8 below.

Explain in detail four different models of early childhood programmes.

TASK 6

Critically reflect on how your own beliefs, values and attitudes could impact the learning environment – using a minimum of 5 examples from your own experience.

TASK 7

Based on your research and learning in this module, outline five recommendations to make Early Childhood programs more effective in your childcare setting.

TASK 8

Outline training and development requirements for staff who are involved in curriculum planning and propose a minimum of 3 training options that could be implemented in your setting.
