Formative Assessment Formative assessment occurs through learner engagement with lectures and through practice with variety of clinical tools. Learners are required to utilise these tools with clients and to process this in supervision and class. The supervisor’s report associated with part two of the assessment, is a formative aspect on the learning for this module, but does not need to be completed in order to submit the assignment. This is addressed further in the discussion below on the summative assignment submission requirements. Assignment icon Summative Assessment: Practice Issue Proposal (80%) and Clinical Report (20%) Assignment Summative Assessment: This assignment is written in two parts, the first section considers a Practice Based Issue (PBI). The second considered a Clinical Impact Report, which is based on supervision of the learner’s current caseload to date, with a focus on the PBI discussed in part 1.
Part 1 – Practice Issue Proposal In this non-abstract assignment, learners are required to identify a practice-based issue, such as a pertinent obstacle or limitation in their clinical work, within the confines of their individual practice or their working context. The literature pertaining to the issue should be critically evaluated including an exploration of the correlations between clinical variables and therapy outcomes. An evidence-based solution should be proposed to address the issue, demonstrating sound ability to incorporate and use outcome research. Learners must present their arguments in a 3,500-word proposal incorporating up-to-date, relevant literature. A pathway toward cohesive implementation must be included. This assignment is assessing MIMLOs 1-3 (for 80% of the overall grade).
Part 2 – Clinical Impact Report Learners are required to submit a clinical impact report evaluating their current clinical practice. In tandem with the formative supervisor’s report (outlined above), learners will submit a 1,500-word report outlining the professional development that has occurred as a result of engaging in supervision and the impact of this module on their clinical practice. This assignment is assessing MIMLOs 4-5 (for 20% of the overall grade). ( Attachment Issue)
