Declining Health: Aging is often accompanied by an increased risk of developing chronic health
conditions, such as cardiovascular diseases, arthritis, diabetes, or cognitive decline.
Reduced Mobility: Older individuals may experience limitations in physical mobility due to
age-related changes, leading to decreased strength, balance, flexibility, and increased
vulnerability to falls.

Background
Linda and David Johnson are a married couple in their late 60s. Linda, 66, is a nurse, and
David, 69, is a college professor. They have two grown children who live in different
countries. Linda and David are approaching retirement age and have been focusing on
the financial aspects of retirement planning. However, they recognize that retirement
involves more than just financial security and want to prepare for the social, emotional,
and spiritual changes that come with this new phase of life.
Current Situation
● Linda’s Job: Full-time nurse at a local hospital, planning to retire at 67.
● David’s Job: Tenured professor, planning to retire at 70.
● Family: Two adult children, both married and living in Australia.
● Social Circle: Friends and colleagues primarily from work, some involvement in
