MODULE LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of this module students should be able to;

1. Compare and contrast documented research and literature regarding the impact of these key issues on the global tourism industry and evaluate the future of tourism based on module research and discussion.

2. Understand and appraise contemporary conceptualizations of social change as they relate to tourism, drawing on key writers in these areas and relevant theoretical perspectives in analyzing demand for new tourist experiences.

3. Critique travel and tourism development from both a responsible and sustainable tourism perspective and evaluate the social/cultural impact of tourism development or a proposed development project.

4. Formulate management strategies and offer an in‑depth analysis of current issues surrounding global tourism.

COURSEWORK ASSESSMENT: 

• You are required to submit an academic essay that must include reference to documented research and literature regarding international tourism.
• You are required to refer to at least 5 relevant academic textbooks, at least 5 academic journal articles, and other sources of research and examples available in this area.
