Innovators apply their problem-solving and creative thinking skills to introduce something new or novel. New methods, ideas, products, and techniques are conceived and implemented by individuals who act innovatively, developing value for their customers, employers, themselves, or the wider world. When innovators consider new products or solutions for the marketplace, they may start their own venture and become entrepreneurs.

Others work as innovators within companies and the public service, acting as intrapreneurs and change-makers. Some innovators may focus on complex global challenges and develop social innovations which aim to tackle issues of climate change and social inequity in domains of science, advocacy, policy and legislation, and much more.
