Part 1

• Write a literature review on the key considerations regarding the ethics of research with babies, toddlers, and young children.

Part 2

• This section should include an account of the research methodology you will use for your dissertation.
• Drawing on the research literature, you should:
• Critically examine what action research is and why it might be appropriate for practice-based research by educators
• Describe and justify the research instruments chosen
• Explain your planned piloting procedures
• Describe and justify your planned procedure and sampling strategy for data collection
• Describe and justify your planned procedure for analysis of data
• Defend the reliability and validity of the study
• Identify some limitations of the study
• Provide a summary
• Engaging with the concept of the educator as ‘a living contradiction’ , reflect on your values in action. Identify elements that show how you live to your values in practice. Identify elements that show gaps between your values and your practice
• Drawing on your experiences to date and linked to the literature you explored in Parts 1 and 2, reflect upon the potential benefits and challenges of action research in your setting. You should consider issues such as opportunities to support reflective practices with and among staff and colleagues, how action research can support you to access and respond to the voices of children, and how your practice could be impacted by action research (750 words).
