This will include the impact of bias and discrimination on identity development. How are children’s multiple identities nurtured? how is identity and belonging fostered in your setting for children, families and staff? Is there an anti-discriminatory and anti-bias approach? Do adults reflect on their own biases? Reflect on how challenging inequalities is linked to quality provision?
- Examine and evaluate their own practice in addressing inequalities and ensuring access to the full curriculum for all children.
To meet this outcome you must reflect on how your practice in early years setting and that of others ensures full access to curriculum. Are there relevant meaningful experiences based on the child’s culture, home life, community, unique interests, strengths, needs and development. Reflect on this in light of your chosen areas of discussion. Is a listening culture fostered in the setting, why is it important to do so? Discuss the concept of contextually appropriate practice.
