A still picture from the video was printed by the Daily Gossip Papers, with an accompanying story on the unsavory nature of outdoor sex and the pervasiveness of cameras in society.

Although neither Ciaran’s nor Marilyn’s faces nor genitals were visible in the picture, their clothing and their car were. The registration number of the car was not visible, but the color and model of the car were recognizable. A number of neighbors identified Ciaran and Marilyn on social media. The Daily Gossip sent a journalist and photographer to try and get an interview with Ciaran and Marilyn.

When the couple refused to talk to them, the journalist and photographer waited outside their house in the street; they were soon joined by a host of bloggers, vloggers, podcasters as well as journalists and photographers from local and national newspapers and even a TV crew from a national station ). This lasted for almost three weeks and Ciaran and Marilyn felt unable to go outside during this time, due to the pressure of all the attention.
