- Based on The Six Pillars of Academic Integrity, discuss how a student who is new to the academic community should adopt these fundamental values. Your discussion should also include the challenges students face when first developing their own Academic Integrity.
- Also, use the concept of Academic Integrity and develop a set of guidelines a university should introduce to minimize academic dishonesty and plagiarism. Please include your own sources in your discussion, such as the article in The Wall Street Journal “Red Flags Raised Over Chinese Research Published in Global Journals” published on July 5th, 2020, and describe the impact that problematic research papers could have on other
research. - Describe how your own efficient and effective database exploration would look like. In your explanation discuss the necessity for an academic scholar to use academic databases found in the library over a simple Google search to strengthen your scientific endeavor.
- Also, consider the challenges of finding useful search terms when exploring databases. Using your own sources, explain how you can assess the usefulness of a search term in your quest for an effective search. For example, The Wall Street Journal published an article “How Google Interferes with Its Search Algorithms and Changes your Results” on Nov 15th, 2019. The article reveals that “Google has editorial control over what it (its search engine) shows users.” This opens the door to bias in research as certain search results may be favored.
