Background to the report
You work at a social care organisation that provides support services to vulnerable people.
Recently, your boss has noticed that the team is experiencing low morale, high turnover, and
conflicts among team members. Suspecting that the issues may be related to leadership styles,
unmet employee needs, and burnout, and knowing that you are taking a module on
Collaborative Practice and Professional Leadership, your boss has asked for your advice on
how to address these issues. You need to be able to quote relevant sources to support your
recommendations.
The team consists of diverse individuals with varying needs and motivations:
Anne has a high need for achievement (nAch). She is driven by goals and seeks recognition for
her accomplishments.
Bill has a high need for power (nPow). He enjoys influencing others and wants to take on
leadership roles.
Cathy has a high need for affiliation (nAff). She values strong relationships and a supportive
work environment.
Requirements
You need to develop a strategy to improve team dynamics, address the individual needs of
Anne, Bill and Cathy, and boost overall staff morale.

Part 1. The Report
1. Introduction (5%)
2. Evaluate Leadership Styles: Choose two leadership styles (e.g., authoritarian,democratic, laissez-faire, transformational, transactional, servant) and evaluate their effectiveness in addressing the current issues within the team. Discuss the pros and cons of each style.

3. Meeting Individual Needs (10%): Consider how the chosen leadership styles can meet
the needs of Anne, Bill, and Cathy to improve team dynamics. Use McClelland’s
Theory of Needs to analyse and address their individual motivations.
4. Addressing Issues and Incorporating Other Theories (15%): Outline the steps you
would take to ensure all team members feel safe, valued, and supported in the
workplace. Include strategies to prevent and manage burnout. Consider other relevant
theories covered in the module, such as assumptions, Tuckman’s Model, Karpman’s
drama triangle, and compassion fatigue, and how they can be applied to improve team
dynamics and support individual needs.
5. Plan for the Future (15%): Discuss how you would plan for the future to ensure the
long-term success and sustainability of your team. Identify and address the training
needs of your team to close any skill gaps. Choose one of the models we have studied
to guide your strategy, for example, SWOT Analysis, GROW Model of Coaching, or
one of the Models of Change.

o Reflect on how your understanding of leadership has evolved throughout the
module. Discuss specific concepts, theories, or insights that have significantly
impacted your learning. Include clear and relevant examples of how you have
applied these concepts in your assignments or professional practice.
2. Enjoyable and Challenging Aspects: 20%
o Reflect on the aspects of the module you found most engaging and challenging.
Provide a detailed explanation of why these aspects were engaging or
challenging for you.
3. Application of Feedback from Assignment 1: 30%
o Discuss in detail how you incorporated this feedback into your final assignment.
Include specific examples of changes made based on the feedback.
Academic considerations
This assignment is at level 8, and it is expected that its presentation reflects this level of study.
The report should use at least 10 quality references, from journal articles or book/chapters and
reputable websites. Articles should be used critically to either support or refute a position. The
hallmark of level 8 is the ability to critically appraise the literature and use it to support your
argument. Ensure that you use at least 5 quality references from the module readings.
There is no room for grammatical, spelling or mistakes with college conventions (please read
the college handbook on how to present academic work). The presentation should be neat, with
margins aligned to the left, the correct font used and the correct intext citations using Harvard
Method with supporting bibliography. The assignment should be proofread several times

The report should be written using a report format, with headings and subheading throughout.
The report should have a cover page, table of contents, and page numbers. While the general
convention of third person author should be used, at times it may be acceptable to use first
