Subject | Youth Justice |
A small group of young people have been referred and approved by the referral committee, to the Youth Diversion Programme. The local Gardaí are concerned that the young men are at risk of becoming further involved in more serious crime and anti-social behaviour. The group are young males aged 15 – 16 years old. They are quite marginalised within the community.
They were engaged with the UBU youth project a few years ago but disengaged and have not returned to the youth project. They have poor relationships with other services in the area.
Some members are excluded from formal education with other members struggle to remain engaged in school. There are concerns about their alcohol and weed use and the impact this is having on their engagement in school/ with services and anti-social behaviour.
