Dublin-based Stride is the company to watch out for in 2020. The company is developing a mobile app that uses machine learning in the career discovery process.

The platform, which is built on social networking systems, is aimed at helping students choose college and career paths. The app should launch soon and the company is currently in the process of recruiting new IT personnel.

The Stride management team is undertaking a review of current policies and procedures.  As part of this process, you have been asked to take the role of an independent consultant and write a report on the recruitment and selection process.  The report will include a review and evaluation of the existing process and recommendations for change. The aim of the report is to identify ideas and processes that will improve the recruitment and selection process for the new candidates, H.R manager and I.T manager.

Tasks:

• Stride’s current recruitment and selection process is detailed below. Write a brief evaluation of the current process:

1. Identify the strengths and weaknesses from the perspectives of:
   i. the H.R. manager,
   ii. the I.T. manager
   iii. the candidates
2. Identify recommendations for change.

• Objectives and performance indicators:

1. Briefly explain the function of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in the evaluation of individual or group performance
2. List five KPIs of the proposed new process
3. For each of the five KPIs, complete the KPI table in the template provided

• Keeping the strengths and weaknesses of the current system in mind, design a new process for recruitment and selection. Design an appropriate workflow system to include:

1. Documentation of the process to include: process purpose, process scope, process input, process output, process roles
2. Process flow – a detailed step-by-step description of the proposed new process and exceptions to normal process flow
3. A detailed workflow diagram – use a swim lane diagram to clearly identify roles and responsibilities.
