Subject | 6N3945: Managing People |
Assignment 1
You are required to give information regarding setting a performance standard for your staff. Use the assessment criteria outlined in the table above as headings to guide the structure of your report. The first five assessment criteria are specific to the standard of performance you have set and require information about how you managed your team. Please read the criteria carefully and ensure your answer covers the detail required. For example, you are asked to detail how your feedback outcomes to your staff. This covers the whole of the communication and feedback processes you use but specifies ‘outcomes’ in the assessment criteria. The remaining assessment criteria require you to carry out a critical and reflective evaluation of your skills as a manager of people. References to academic work should be made throughout with a references list supplied at the end using the Harvard Referencing process (see below for details).
Assignment 2
Requirement: For this assignment you are required to provide an account of your learning from the overall program, highlighting the key learning points as outlined below:
Learner Record: The assignment is a personal record of your learning throughout the entire course, (the 3 tutor-led days and the eight online modules completed on the LMS). It should be a reflection on new learning and skills acquired and not a list of content covered. Your learner record can include any other research you may have undertaken as a result of the whole program.
Please include a brief pen picture of yourself and your current role in order to give some context to the content of your learner record for both marking and QQI verification purposes, (maximum 50 words and not part of the 1,500-word count). There should be a minimum of six entries to your learner record. You can choose to reflect on the online modules only or a combination of the tutor-led training and online modules. At least three of the online modules should be included in your learner record. Each entry should link your learning from an element or elements of the content of the course with your personal experience as a manager. Pick between six and eight points of content overall which has helped to expand your own knowledge/skill and which will impact your role in the future.
Positive aspects and personal challenges while completing this course: Reference should be made to the positive aspects and personal challenges you experienced while completing this course and should be written in relation to you and your learning and development as a manager.
Action plan: The assessment criteria require you to formulate an action plan showing how you intend to further develop your management skills and implement changes/developments with your team as a result of your learning.
You can add action points to the end of every entry to your learner record or write a stand-alone action plan at the end of the document. The intention is for you to be able to use this information in discussions with your line manager regarding your personal development plans or for your own personal use. It is recommended that personal objectives are written using the ‘SMART’ technique which will be covered during the course.
Assignment 3
This assignment is an overall evaluation of the process of setting a performance standard with emphasis on motivation, diversity, and problem-solving. You are not required to repeat the details given in assignment 2 but to describe how, as a result of your learning experience, you would go about setting a performance standard if required to do so in the future. A conclusion covering the whole course may also be included at the end which will not be included in the word count for this assignment.
