Assessment Guidelines:

The learner is required to conduct a needs/strength analysis on a child. They will then plan and carry two activities based on a thorough analysis of the child’s needs.

The work should be presented in the following format:

Introduction:

The learner will observe a child over a specified period of time with permission from their Work Exp supervisor to provide Learner will select a child with a recognized additional need whom they have access to. The learner will briefly story background information about the history of special needs provision in Ireland in general and specifically the provision for the specified need in Ireland.

Activity Plans:

The learner will select appropriate activities for the child and explain why you chose the Learner will plan and then implement 2 activities that would contribute to the development of the child in question. The activities can be carried out in 2 sessions on the same day or 2 separate days. Plans must be presented separately in a step-by-step fashion. The plan is before. The implementation is during.

Evaluation:

After each activity, the learner will critically analyze the successes/ weaknesses of the activity. What went well for you as a facilitator? What could be improved upon if facilitating an activity again? Were the learning outcomes/ goals achieved? What changes would you make? Suggest an extension activity for each activity.

Critical Reflection:

Personal opinion about the provision for the specified need in Ireland today. Reflect on own attitudes, values, beliefs, and assumptions in relation to working with and 04 behalfs of people who present with disabilities. Personal learning gained from the assignment.

Learners must provide evidence of their work. Evidence for this assessment technique may take the form of written, oral, graphic, audio, visual or any combination of these. Any audio, video or digital evidence must be provided in a suitable format.

The project must be presented in written form, using the college cover page and standard formatting. Any material used must be referenced. Learners are encouraged to seek first-hand information where possible i.e. interviews and anecdotes.

Work must include:

• PPS number on each page
• Bibliography
• Appendices
