When Hasam was in his early sixties he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Initially, he was able to manage his condition however as the condition progressed Hasam was forced to sell his restaurant. Initially, Hasam was cared for at home and then attended the local daycare center three days a week. When he was no longer able to attend the daycare center he was allocated a homecare package of three hours per day.
As his condition deteriorated his level of independence reduced and he was allocated a place in full-time residential care in his local Community Nursing Unit. Currently, Hasam is quite frail and his condition has progressed with age, he is nearing the end of his life and the Palliative care team has become involved in his care.
