Aim :

To improve the overall mental health of production line workers in the manufacturing site by 2023.

Objectives of the Mental Health program

• Provide Mental Health First responders training to supervisors. “It is particularly important to engage mid-level managers as they are the direct link between workers and upper management and will determine if the program succeeds or fails” (NIOSH The Essential Elements of Effective Workplace Programs)
  1. The supervisors need to be trained on the knowledge and tools of mental health so that they understand their own mental health and the mental health of those around them and feel confident providing initial help.
• Implement a company Wellness action plan program (WAP) to encourage dialogue between supervisors and employees around mental health.
  1. Gaining employee support and trust in the program involves ensuring a high level of sensitivity and privacy in relation to their personal health information. It also opens up a dialogue between you and your team members and better support their well-being.
• All employees will have the knowledge, tools, and confidence to understand and look after their own mental health and the mental health of those around them.
  1. 1. The supervisors are meeting the employees daily, when they are delivering the KPI’s, they can also present some slides relevant to mental health.
     2. Have weekly talks on exercise, nutrition, stress, and sleep on the impact they have on mental health.
     3. Make wellness topics interesting and fun.

• Employees in all types of employment will have “good work”, which contributes positively to their mental health.
  1. Ensure ongoing employee engagement across the organization, be open and honest, and believe in the program been delivered.
• Dramatically reduce the proportion of people with long term mental health conditions who leave employment each year and ensure that all, who can benefit from the positive impacts of good work.
  1. Evaluating the program is important for reviewing its effectiveness. It provides information that can help with ongoing development and improvements of the program and allows us to assess whether the program is meeting its aim and objectives.
