Complete an ethical round as we did in the tutorial on a scenario from your own practice and write this up. The Word limit is 2,000.

You are required to use academic referencing to support the arguments you are making. You will need to reference the ethical texts we have used and evidence-based papers with reference to your clinical scenario.

For example, if the scenario is about feeding and end of life you should look at what the latest evidence on this is. There will be marks for presentation, creativity and authenticity of the clinical scenario. In this essay, creativity means that you can show that you can empathize with different stakeholders, think of a range of different possible solutions and their implications for the stakeholders.

Clinical authenticity can be demonstrated by choosing a scenario that you know very well so that you can describe some of the nuances that affected outcomes this will ensure the scenario is believable.

This assessment requires you to

a. Introduce the essay – Explain the purpose and the main topic and describe the sections.

b. Describe the approach to care ethics that you will use to explore an everyday ethical issue in clinical practice. Demonstrate how care ethics may impact differently than other approaches to ethics.

c. Choose a scenario from your own recent clinical practice and briefly explain what happened. Describe the actors and the actions as they unfolded.

d. Complete an ethical round with this scenario as we did in class. This ethical framework asks you first to uncover the facts, second the feelings, thirdly the values and finally evaluate the decision that was taken. Remember a decision is rarely right or wrong but usually a much more complex decision between two compromises.

e. Conclude by writing how this exercise has developed your thinking about ethics.
