Inform yourself by reading the latest (Spring 2024) ESRI Economic Commentary https://www.esri.ie/system/files/publications/QEC2024SPR.pdf and the latest Central Bank of Ireland Bulletin No. 2 2024  https://www.centralbank.ie/publication/quarterly-bulletins/quarterly-bulletin-q2-2024 Using these and other up to date sources review the reasons behind the positive economic growth forecast for the Irish economy from 2024 onwards
3. If you were Minister for Finance and you were given the brief to introduce one tax/expenditure measure to combat a current constraint on increasing long term economic growth in Ireland, review this tax/expenditure measure and how it would impact long term economic growth in Ireland.

Part B (2,500 word count limit for each part)

1. Introduction
2. Review some of the changes to taxation and expenditure introduced in Budget 2024 that you think are important in terms of promoting long-term equity (fairness) in Irish society and explain how these changes will promote long-term equity (fairness) in Irish society
3. If you were Minister for Finance next year and you were given the brief to introduce one different policy to better promote long term equity (fairness) in Irish society, outline this policy and review how this policy would achieve this goal and how this policy would be financed?

Common mistakes made by students that lead to overall lower grade

1. Referencing: Lack of proper referencing will impact your grade All sources must be referenced in accordance with the Style Guide referencing available on Brightspace, this will be reflected in the achieved grade.  
2. Be careful to use good quality sources as there is extreme opinion about the economics especially for far right and far left political parties, always check which organisation established the websites you are quoting, avoid quoting from political view point websites, avoid Wikipedia and blogs and stick to well established neutral/independent organisations/commentators. In the words of Upton Sinclair ‘It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” Therefore be careful to check which organisation is paying the bills for the website you are looking at.
3. A common mistake is for students to use a limited number of sources for example one section is all based on one/limited source(s) or word-for-word from one/limited number of website(s), this will result in a poor grade for this section/overall project. An important part of the project is to find and locate good reference material for this project and your work will be graded accordingly therefore no project/ or section of a project should not be over-dependent on limited number of sources
4. This project should be solely based on Ireland, therefore any material not about Ireland will not suitable
