You are an adviser to the co-founders of Energy Asset Management (EAM) – a newly established Irish fund management company. EAM’s co-founders have spent their careers in the energy production sector and want to launch a range of authorized investment funds to take advantage of investment opportunities presented by the transition of the global energy system to low/zero carbon sources.

EAM’s co-founders want the proposed funds to invest in firms that are transitioning from high-carbon to low/zero-carbon energy production and firms that are already producing energy from low/zero-carbon sources. EAM’s co-founders want to market the funds to retail investors in the EU. The co-founders have no financial services experience and are not familiar with investment funds.

They are seeking your advice on the launch and marketing of the funds, including the documentation they will need to prepare. The co-founders heard that new regulations require funds and their managers to make disclosures based on the approach they adopt to sustainability.
