The open and competitive economies, the accelerated economic growth: Loyalty of the Employee HR Dissertation, NUIM, Ireland

University National University Of Ireland Maynooth (NUIM)
Subject Loyalty of the employee HR

In recent decades, our society has undergone significant changes. The open and competitive economies, the accelerated economic growth reflected in the capital markets, modernisation, and technological development, are some of these changes that organisations have had to address in their management practices management, specifically, in the management of human resources.

Today Ireland is facing increased competition in the market, and the demands of external and internal customers make it very important for every company to retain its employees since they are the first customers in the organisation. It is known that companies that have been strongly considered in the market and have differentiated themselves from other companies by providing quality service to external customers achieved a brand positioning in people’s minds. These companies have made the employee loyal to the company and set the same objectives that the company seeks, knowing that external customers are more demanding in the search for products.

The competition in the market and the demands of the clients have meant that companies, to have a more significant clientele, must start building loyalty with their internal customers (Employees). Furthermore, this involves establishing solid links and maintaining long-term relationships with them. Once the employees are loyal, they can have more clients in the company.

According to the article published by Indeed Editorial Team, Published August 11, 2021, employee loyalty is defined as when the employee stays with an organisation for an extended time because they feel valued, appreciated, and believe in the company’s general mission. This means that employees loyal to a company are more likely to feel more invested in the company’s success and work to achieve the organisation’s goals. In addition, the more satisfied an employee feels with his current position, the less likely he is to look for other or new job opportunities.

For this, it will be relevant to define and understand the main characteristics of the country of study to identify the main motivations and interests that drive employees to belong and remain in specific organisations. In the same way, some scope definitions of concepts made by relevant investigations, such as Loyalty & Job Satisfaction.

The theoretical relevance of researching this topic arises from the scarcity of study proposals around the management of professional employees in Ireland, which leads to a lack of knowledge of the primary practices and strategies that may be useful and effective in developing and retaining them. Finally, the main ambition of this study was to know the factors that influence employees’ loyalty within an organisation in Ireland. A study carried out by the company Tinypulse, (2019), called The End of Employee Loyalty, indicates that 43% would be willing to leave their current job if offered a higher salary. The curious thing is that the percentage was only 10%, leading to the conclusion that companies in the United States failed to inspire worker loyalty. In addition (Gallup 2010), a survey with the most significant worldwide data shows that only 13% of employees are committed to their work. On the other hand, the survey also indicated that less than a third of people believe they have a strong work culture. These results show that if an employee does not feel part of the culture, they will decide to resign will be much higher.(El Economista, 2020) indicates that the US chain of hotels and resorts, Hyatt Hotels, prior to structuring the roles and laying off 1,300 corporate employees around the world, had a minimal staff turnover compared to its competitors, winning awards such as “Best Workplace for LGBT Equality.” and with an average of permanence of twelve years of the cleaning staff. This is because the company prioritized benefits, promoted diversity, and invested in its employees. With studies like the previous ones of companies that are doing well, the importance of employee loyalty is shown since employee loyalty is a crucial factor determining the success or failure of any organisation. And it’s also essential to learn how companies can use effective employee retention strategies to improve the employee loyalty.
