Requirement

To produce a self-reflection assignment 1000 words, which demonstrates in some way a change made to practice or provision in Early Years setting.

The chance is: implementation and creation of doll house, with toys such as dolls pram, in the classroom (children age group 12-18months). Reason for this change, because some of the children were playing a lot with baby dolls recently and one child mammy is pregnant. Inclusion of parents in ECCE setting is a good practise and playing with baby dolls we can help to prepare the child for the change coming in his family of being a big brother to his baby sister or brother.

Learning Outcomes must be addressed

Reflective assigment should address the following learning outcomes:

• Critically analyse aspects of early childhood curricula in relation to theories of learning and pedagogy and relate this to practice in their settings
• Describe, analyse and constructively critique a range of perspectives on early childhood education in this and some other countries
• Identify the relationship between the history of early childhood provision in Ireland and its present form – compared to the UK. The links to the UK can be briefly engaged with, but need to be evident.
• Articulate the practitioner’s role in planning and implementing a broad and balanced, child-centred curriculum indoors, outdoors and beyond the early childhood setting

Your self-reflection needs to touch on all the learning outcomes but not necessarily in same degree of depth and this is the key point (although they do need to be evident) i.e. one sentence is not sufficient.
