During the call I had a great insight of the meeting, My Practice Teacher was first to express her concerns for her client, She highlighted the need for supportive housing as her client is very vulnerable and living in temporary accommodation, who has mental health issues and is concerned for his wellbeing.

Also, another probation officer explained his client’s case where there were concerns about the Client not telling the truth of where he is living or if he has a girlfriend with children. A key moment stuck out for me when the garda and probation officers were in agreement that this client needs to start telling the truth and there it was said on several occasions that if the girlfriend has children it needs to be addressed as the children are paramount, their safety.

Another key learning moment was when the Housing officer spoke abruptly about a client not coming down from to get HAP, he will not be getting a transfer and that was final, whereas the probation officer wanted to try to get this client housing, this is where I found there was some conflict and that not all Agency agree and that these cases are so complex.
