You have been asked by your CEO to produce a document analyzing the benefits of developing a simulation model of your or your selected supply chain. This document will require an extremely high standard of presentation and writing that is geared toward top management decision-making.

The report should follow the style of an official business publication for your organization but also be based on general literature found on the web and academic research.

This means that the look and presentation should be supported by visuals, diagrams, and illustrations where necessary.
The following points are worth noting:

• Provide an overview of the different types of simulation that can be applied to supply chains.
• Report on the benefits of the use of simulation to address issues that are important to your supply chain. Cite both from general literature on the web and from academic literature.
• Document the different resources, in-house or consultant, that could be used to carry out a simulation model within your company or your selected supply chain, highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of both.
• Develop a detailed project plan of the tasks that need to be executed for a successful implementation of simulation within your supply chain, highlighting the tasks that could cause issues in resources and time delays. It is important to highlight the objectives of this proposed study.
• Provide a detailed conceptual model of your supply chain. Within this portion of the document detail the importance of developing a conceptual model and how this relates to the objectives of a study.
• Gather data for at least two input data sets within your supply chain and propose distributions or try to fit these to distributions within your conceptual model. Within this portion of the document detail from the general literature and academic papers the importance of using the correct data within a simulation model.
• Develop a detailed experiment plan for your supply chain, documenting how variability within your model will be dealt with.
• Detail the software to develop a discrete event simulation model of your supply chain, detailing the advantages and disadvantages.
• To demonstrate the feasibility of developing simulation models of your supply chain develop a portion of your supply chain using Simul8.
• Demonstrate that the portion of the model developed is a verified and validated model.
