Learning Outcomes

attainment of the following minimum intended learning outcomes:

Assessment Description

Students are advised to review and adhere to the submission requirements documented after the assessment task. Imagine that you want to design an Information System solution that will help Dublin Bus to accommodate as many passengers as possible in a single bus. During busy periods, drivers simply choose not to let new passengers in, while there might be seats available upstairs and in the middle of the bus on the lower deck.

Please propose a technical solution and design a front-end app for both drivers and customers that indicates how many seats are actually available in each bus. The driver should be able to get this information from a screen in his booth, while Dublin Bus customers can view it from their phones.

Assessment Tasks

1. Consider the end-users of your app. What do they need? How can you provide them with an effective and satisfying experience? Research the problem space and establish a specific list of user requirements.

2. Make a list of the functions that the IT solution and the front-end app will enable users to perform.

3. Prototype a number of screens for this system, showing its main functionality and its general look and feel. You can use draw.io or other similar free online tools. You must also produce your alternative designs.

4. Ask some of your friends or classmates for feedback on your design. What do they like/dislike? Did they highlight any potential problems? Show them your alternative designs. Please record and analyze all the feedback and results of the study.

5. Having produced and tested a prototype, self-reflect on how you went about tackling this activity. What did you do first? What inspired/influenced your design? What exact process (sequence of steps/activities) did you go through? What would you do differently next time?
