SYSTEMATIC TRAINING

Systematic training is based on ideas developed during the Second World War when training efficiency was of extreme importance.

The main purpose of systematic training is to enable learners to become competent and confident in completing tasks and jobs in the shortest possible time and in the most economical way.

With systematic training, the requirements of jobs, tasks, and skills are thoroughly analyzed, to eliminate any waste of time or effort. The best way of doing the job is identified and a training scheme is put in place to bring learners to Experienced Worker Standard (EWS) in the shortest possible time.

Experienced Worker Standard refers to the ideal worker who is a reliable, responsible person who produces quality work efficiently.

You can build up a picture of this ideal worker by observing good workers in the workplace. One worker can produce good work, another can work fast and another may have a particularly good attitude. All these characteristics are measured and assessed, and a ‘model’ of the ideal experienced worker is formed.

You then base the standard aimed at on completion of training on this ‘model’. It is important that the EWS is not set too high. It should be a fair target, within the reach of the well-trained worker.
