Introduction

Project management success is as dependent on people as it is on the technical and functional skills of the Project Manager (PMI 2014). It is now well recognized that ‘systematic’ change approaches using methods such as program and project managers need to be coupled with a strong focus on the people and cultural factors in order to increase the likelihood of success (Barry and Dalton 2018) According to Baker (2012), stakeholder management and communication are project deliverables and therefore require the same attention as other project deliverables.

Stakeholders are individuals or groups who have an interest in the project, program, or portfolio because they are involved in the work, or are affected by the outcomes (APM Body of Knowledge 6th Edition 2013) Effective stakeholder management is important to optimize support for the project and to enable the early identification of resistance, conflict, or competing objectives among stakeholders.

• Monitoring stakeholder engagement

Assignment Tasks

Task One

Kristin has been appointed as the Project Manager for a 3-year Department of Health-funded project which involves the establishment of a centralized Vaccination Centre for all Childhood and Adult Vaccination programs (One Stop Shop Type Model). Currently, vaccinations are delivered by a variety of clinical services including Public Health Nurses, GPs, Practice Nurses, and Covid 19 Vaccinators. ensure project success Kristin must identify all stakeholders, develop a plan for engaging with stakeholders and manage stakeholder expectations throughout the duration of the project.
For the purpose of this assignment, you are required to critically discuss the Importance of stakeholder management and communication in health and social care projects and critically discuss the tools and approaches the Project Manager can utilize to ensure effective stakeholder identification, engagement, and the management of stakeholder expectations during the planning and implementation stages of this project.
