The 2008 Global Financial Crisis (GFC) was a crisis of credit where banks and financial institutions became trapped in asset-backed security that was tumbling downward in value.

Consider the following

1. Write a narrative of the backdrop to the GFC, its gradual formation and sudden implosion. Consider how key events were shaped, include some key personal, some business examples, the rise of new derivative products and deliver the sequence of events that led to domestic US Investment Banks and subsequently overseas InvestmentBanks to the point of collapse and the need to be bailed out by massive government funding.  The GFC resulted in dragging the US economy and then the world into the greatest contraction since the Great Depression.

2. Consider the institution you currently work in. How did it weather the effects of the 2008 GFC?  In your answer, clearly indicate a pre and post-position. Consider also the effects of the Celtic Tiger collapse on your workplace, around the same time.

3. Consider the current role of your immediate boss (or maybe his/or her boss). How would their role have been impacted in the wake of the 2008 crisis?  What new responsibilities would have come their way?
