Section A. – Introduction

II. Describe briefly the causes of Intellectual disabilities and outline the physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual needs which should be met by a service provider
III. Describe how professionals assess people to diagnose an intellectual disability
IV. Define frontline staff and describe what a typical service might look like for a man like Brian. Explain the role of each the multidisciplinary team members in Brian’s life – physiotherapist, occupational therapist, Speech therapist and social worker and how they work together in a team.
V. Discuss how different organisations have different ethos’s in line with their attitudes and beliefs and explore how this might influence service users in terms of choosing a service
Section B. – Day Programme
Design a day programme for Brian that will run for five days a week that is not centre-based and is service user-led. Bearing in mind O Brien’s five accomplishments.
This programme must be within the boundaries of the financial budget which Brian has received.
Section C. – Respite Programme
Design a suitable respite service for Brian that is not centre-based and is service user-led.
This service must also be in line with O Brien’s five accomplishments and must meet Brian’s needs, his family’s needs and also be within budget constraints.
